On 7 April 2022, H.E. Mrs. Millicent Cruz-Paredes, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of H.E. Mrs. Cruz-Paredes’ assumption of duty.

Both sides appreciated the close and cordial relations between Thailand and the Philippines, including the continued mutual support and assistance extended to one another in times of need, particularly during the COVID-19 situation as well as during occurances of natural disasters. Both sides also discussed ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation in various areas, particulary in defence and security, education, health and labour. They also discussed regional issues of common interest.

Both sides shared the view that the 6th Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC), co-chaired by the Foreign Ministers of both countries, should be convened at the earliest opportunity. Thailand affirmed its readiness to host the said meeting, expected to be held within the second half of 2022. Furthermore, as Thailand and the Philippines will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations in 2024, the two sides would begin discussions to arrange activities to commemorate the auspicious occasion.
