On 26 May 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, joined a bilateral discussion between H.E. Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, and H.E. Mr. Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines, on the sidelines of the 46th ASEAN Summit and other related meetings in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 

The Prime Minister of Thailand accepted with pleasure the invitation extended by the President of the Philippines for her to pay an official visit to the Philippines, which will be a good opportunity to further promote friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides agreed to increase bilateral trade and investment. The Prime Minister of Thailand expressed readiness to export more agricultural products from Thailand to the Philippines, while the President of the Philippines recognised the important role of the Thai private sector and invited more Thai companies to invest in the Philippines, especially in the fields of agriculture and energy. Both countries will increase cooperation in the area of tourism.

On security cooperation, both sides agreed to increase cooperation to combat transnational crimes, particularly online scams and human trafficking.

Both countries also agreed to advance closer ASEAN economic cooperation in order to enhance regional strength amidst global economic uncertainties.
