On 3 July 2026, H.E. Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Chief Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, in his capacity as the Special Envoy of the Prime Minister, attended the funeral of His Eminence Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the late Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in Tehran. He conveyed Thailand’s deepest condolences to the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran on their profound national loss, reflecting the longstanding friendship between Thailand and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Special Envoy also had discussions with H.E. Dr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He expressed Thailand’s hope that the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and the negotiations over the coming 60-day period would lead to lasting peace, while creating greater economic opportunities between Iran and the international community, including enhanced economic cooperation between Thailand and Iran.
