Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs co-chairs the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference with the Republic of Korea in Manila

On 22 July 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, co-chaired the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference with the Republic of Korea (ROK) on the sidelines of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings in Manila, the Philippines.
As the Country Coordinator for ASEAN - ROK Dialogue Relations (2024–2027), Thailand delivered the ASEAN Common Statement to advance the ASEAN - ROK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) and strengthen cooperation in addressing shared challenges. The Meeting reaffirmed the importance of deepening economic cooperation by concluding the ASEAN - Republic of Korea Free Trade Agreement (AKFTA) Upgrade negotiations by 2027 and supporting the review of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) to respond to evolving economic realities. Ministers also underscored cooperation in digital transformation, science, advanced technology, innovation and artificial intelligence (AI) through co-creation and co-development, while strengthening collaboration to combat transnational crime, particularly online scams, cyber security threats and maritime security.
The Deputy Prime Minister also highlighted areas of cooperation that would further advance the ASEAN - ROK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, including the early conclusion of the Thailand - Republic of Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). He reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to share its experience in combating online scams through the Anti-Cyber Scam Center (ACSC), and expressed support for the ROK’s constructive role in promoting peace, stability and security in the region, as well as its efforts to foster lasting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
