On 16 October 2025, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, joined a telephone conversation between H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, and H.E. Mr. Lee Jae Myung, President of the Republic of Korea (ROK), which was requested by the President in order to congratulate Prime Minister Anutin on his assumption of duty.

Both leaders reflected on the long-standing friendship between Thailand and the ROK. President Lee expressed his appreciation for the sacrifice of Thai troops in the Korean War 70 years ago, which the ROK will never forget. Looking ahead, both sides aim to deepen bilateral ties, especially on trade and investment. The Prime Minister conveyed his goal for bilateral trade to reach 30 billion USD, and reaffirmed the Thai government’s readiness to take care of the ROK’s private-sector investment in Thailand.

On regional issues, the Prime Minister expressed his full support for the President’s E.N.D. initiative (Exchange, Normalization, Denuclearization), which aims to reduce tensions on the Korean Peninsula and resume dialogue between the ROK and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). He also conveyed Thailand’s readiness to cooperate with the ROK in addressing transnational crime in the region and in assisting the victims of such crime.

Towards the end of the conversation, both leaders hoped to have further discussions in person at the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, followed by the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Gyeongju. They also exchanged fondness for each other’s cuisine, with the President also conveying his appreciation for the Thai people’s warm hospitality during his visit to Buriram province in 2015.
