On 7 November 2025, H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, accompanied by spouse, paid an introductory visit to the Republic of Singapore, at the invitation of H.E. Mr. Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore. The visit to Singapore, the first for the Prime Minister since his assumption of office, took place as Thailand and Singapore celebrate the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relations this year. H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, also joined the official delegation.
The Prime Minister had a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore. Both sides underscored the strong and good relations Thailand and Singapore have enjoyed. As Thailand and Singapore celebrate the 60th anniversary this year, both sides agreed to promote strategic cooperation in areas such as: Sustainability, including clean energy encompassing ASEAN Power Grid, greenhouse gas emissions, and carbon credit trading, on which Thailand and Singapore are the first countries in ASEAN to sign such an agreement. Investments to enhance supply chain connectivity in areas such as green industry through the development of green technology like hydrogen, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), green financing; digital economy and fintech; comprehensive food security to capitalise on Thailand’s position as a major exporter of agricultural products in ASEAN; and healthcare, especially in elderly care.
The Prime Minister also invited Singapore to make investments in target industries, such as data center, semiconductor, biotech, and EVs, as well as encouraged Singapore’s investments in the aviation sector. The Prime Minister also proposed that Thailand and Singapore strengthen cooperation in cybersecurity and combatting transnational crimes and online scams in the region, which tops the national agenda of both countries. Both sides also expressed satisfaction with the close relations at the government and people levels, which contribute to the strong tourism cooperation and business activities between both countries. The Singaporean side also thanked the Thai side for providing training facilities for Singapore’s Armed Forces.
Following the meeting, both Prime Ministers witnessed the exchanged of two agreements: (1) Memorandum of Cooperation on Rice Trade between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of the Republic of Singapore, and (2) Memorandum of Understanding on Capacity Building for Healthcare Leadership in Urban Ageing Care between the Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand, and Singapore Health Services PTE LTD (SingHealth).
During the visit, the Prime Minister also delivered a keynote address at the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) Government Roadshow 2025 to attract more investments from Singapore to Thailand. The Prime Minister also met with over 100 people from the Thai community to discuss their wellbeing and answered questions about the government’s policy. The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to thank the Thai community for taking on the role of ambassadors and portraying the positive image of Thailand in Singapore. In sddition, the Prime Minister paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore. Both sides were pleased with the robust relations and expressed confidence in increased cooperation between Thailand and Singapore.
