On 21 January 2025, Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, and Mrs. Mateja Norčič Štamcar, Director-General of the Directorate for Political Affairs, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia, co-chaired the 2nd Thai - Slovenia Political Consultations in Bangkok.
Both sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, including exchanges of high-level visits, economic relations, investment promotion and sectoral cooperation in areas such as science, technology, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), medical technology and port logistics (Port of Koper). They also exchanged views on priorities in the multilateral fora and cooperation between Thailand and the European Union (EU), including (1) the ratification of the EU-Thailand Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA), (2) support for ongoing negotiations of the Thai – EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and (3) support for the Schengen visa exemption for Thai ordinary passports holders.
