H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings (AMM/PMC) held from 8 to 11 July 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, amounting to a total of 17 ministerial-level meetings.

The meetings provided a valuable opportunity to promote cooperation on key areas of mutual interest under the theme of Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025, “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” including, among others, human rights, threats to human security, online scams, regional economic cooperation, and the advancement of green and digital economies in response to an increasingly volatile global landscape. The Minister also joined discussions on maintaining regional peace and stability through the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP) and on preserving Southeast Asia as a nuclear-weapon-free zone.

The Thai Foreign Minister also exchanged views with other Foreign Ministers and high-level representatives from ASEAN’s 11 Dialogue Partners, as well as countries and organisations participating in the ASEAN Plus Three (APT), the East Asia Summit (EAS), and the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), on key regional and international developments. As Country Coordinator for ASEAN–Republic of Korea Dialogue Relations (2024–2027), the Thai Foreign Minister co-chaired the ASEAN–ROK Post Ministerial Conference alongside H.E. Mr. Park Yoonjoo, First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea. In addition, the Foreign Minister also joined fellow ASEAN Foreign Ministers and the Secretary-General of ASEAN in a courtesy call on H.E. Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia.

On this occasion, the Thai Foreign Minister also held 12 bilateral meetings with counterparts from Canada, China, Japan, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Norway, Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Viet Nam, as well as with the Deputy Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the European Commission. These discussions aimed to further advance bilateral relations and promote tangible cooperation in areas of shared interest.
