On 5 March 2024, H.E. Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, arranged a networking session between Miss Fumiko Nagano, Chief of Mission at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Norway, along with Ms. Arbresha Dula, Senior Project Assistant, and Mrs. Shantana Srivipa Berg, President of the Thai Women’s Association in Norway, along with board members of the Association. Miss Potchamas Saengthien, Counsellor, and Mr. Peerapatra Puspavesa, Counsellor and Chief of the Consular Section, also attended the session.
The purpose of the networking session between the Embassy, the IOM, and the Thai Women’s Association in Norway was to establish a starting point of the circle of cooperation and to exchange information in order to assist the Thai community in Norway, especially their integration into the Norwegian society. As 8 March is the International Women’s Day, it is appropriate that the partnership between the Embassy, the IOM, and the Thai Women’s Association in Norway could be regard as a celebration of the International Women’s Day by highlighting our efforts on women empowering women.
IOM was established in 2002 as part of the United Nations System as the leading inter-governmental organization, promoting humane and orderly migration, counter-trafficking, and facilitating migrants to a third county, with 175 member states and a presence in 171 countries, including Thailand and Norway.
