Ambassador of Thailand to Iceland with Residence in Oslo, has given a “Consul Volunteer” Award to Phra Khru Witesiritham, the Chief Abbot of Wat Thai Iceland

On 12 November 2023, on the occasion of the celebration of Royal Kathina at the Reykjavik City Hall, Reykjavik, Iceland, H.E. Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Iceland, with Residence in Oslo, has given a “Consul Volunteer” Award to Phra Khru Witesiritham, the Chief Abbot of Wat Thai Iceland in recognition of his dedication in actively assisting and supporting the consular work of the Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo, especially in coordination with the Embassy to provide consular assistance and protection for Thai Community in Iceland.

During Ambassador Vimolbajra’s recent visit to Iceland for the Royal Kathina Ceremony, Phra Khru Witesiritham has kindly given Ambassador Vimolbajra with the updates of the situation of Thai community in Grindavik who must be evacuated due to the possible volcano eruption in Grindavik. It is a relief to learn that all Thais in Grindavik are safe and not seriously affected. Ambassador Vimolbajra took this opportunity to convey her message of well-wishes and support, through Phra Khru Witesiritham, to the Thai community in Grindavik and reaffirmed the Embassy’s readiness to provide assistance to all Thais in this situation.

The “Consul Volunteer” Award is the Award given by the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, which is in line with the Ministry’s public diplomacy and in empowering the Thai community abroad by giving recognition to Thais who have been actively and voluntarily assisting the Royal Thai Embassies/Consulate-Generals around the world in taking care and helping Thai communities abroad.

On this occasion, the Royal Thai Embassy wishes to extend our appreciation and congratulations to Phra Khru Witesiritham for the “Consular Volunteer” distinguished award of 2023 in recognition for his valuable contribution to provide assistance and support for the consular work of the Embassy.
