On 18 November 2022, H.E. Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, and the Embassy’s officials, welcomed Thai legal volunteers from many parts of Norway who came to Oslo to attend the annual legal training course, organized by JURK between 19-20 November 2022. They are representatives from Thai-Norwegian Society in Westland, Thai Women Association in Norway, Thai Association in Hedmark, Thai Language and Cultural Association, Toten, Thai Music and Dance Club in Norway, Thai Buddhist Association in Norway, Wat Bodhi Dhamm Ålesund, Thai Student in Norway group, Thai-Norway Language and Cultural Association, Thailand NIE Learning Centre in Østfold.
JURK was established in 1974 by female law students from the Faculty of Law at the University of Oslo to provide free legal aid for women in Norway. For many years, JURK has close collaboration with Thai legal volunteers especially Thai Women Association in Norway in helping Thai community in Norway. This year JURK’s legal training course and lecture will be about labour law and discrimination, including important rules that apply to the workplace and rules concerning discrimination. This lecture is very important for Thai community in Norway, especially those in work force.
The noble work of JURK and Thai Associations in Norway attending this year’s legal training course greatly compliment the efforts being made by the Embassy. The Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo would like to express our appreciation to JURK for organizing the legal training course to enable Thai legal volunteers to gain legal knowledge which will benefit them as an individual as well as to further assist their fellow Thai community in Norway and, thereby, contribute to the empowerment of Thai community in Norway.
