On 24 September 2026, H.E. Mr. Nikorndej Balankura, Ambassador of Thailand to France, together with officials of the Royal Thai Embassy in Paris, visited Sciences Po Paris, Campus du Havre, where they were warmly welcomed by Mr. Michael Hauchecorne, Campus Director.

On this occasion, the Ambassador delivered a speech on “Beyond the Balance: How Thailand Navigates a Fragmented Global Landscape” to Sciences Po students, with approximately 50 participants in attendance. The session was followed by an engaging Q&A, with students raising questions on a range of issues, including the foreign policy of middle powers, great-power competition, climate change, ageing societies, and governance.

Following the speech and Q&A session, the Ambassador also gave an interview to the Sciences Po student newspaper, Le Dragon Déchaîné (LDD), discussing modern diplomatic communication, Thailand’s OECD accession, UNESCO’s role in promoting cooperation on cultural heritage, Thailand–France relations, and his experience of living in France.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity to exchange views with academics and students on Thailand’s role in the international arena, middle-power diplomacy, as well as Thailand–France relations and cooperation.
