Minister of Foreign Affairs to join Thai delegation led by Prime Minister on an official visit to Malaysia and 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits

On 25 - 28 October 2025, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, is scheduled to join the Thai delegation, led by H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, on an official visit to Malaysia and to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, at the invitation of Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia.

The Prime Minister will hold bilateral discussions with the Prime Minister of Malaysia to explore ways to enhance cooperation in promoting seamless connectivity along the Thai - Malaysian border, the development of southern Thailand and northern Malaysia, and the promotion of trade, investment, tourism, and people-to-people relations. The discussions will also cover strengthening border security cooperation, combating transnational crime, and the situation in Thailand’s southern border provinces.

The Prime Minister will also attend the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits on 26 - 28 October 2025. Malaysia, as the ASEAN Chair for 2025, will host the meetings under the theme "Inclusivity and Sustainability." This Summit will mark the Prime Minister’s first participation in an international meeting. In addition to attending discussions among ASEAN leaders, the Prime Minister will also take part in meetings between ASEAN leaders and dialogue partners, namely China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, Australia, the U.S., New Zealand (Commemorative Summit) and the United Nations. These meetings will focus on important issues, such as strengthening the ASEAN Community, promoting cooperation between ASEAN and external partners, and addressing key regional and international developments. In addition, the Prime Minister will also attend other main events, including the Signing of the Declaration on the Admission of Timor-Leste into ASEAN, and the Gala Lunch to commemorate the 50th anniversary of ASEAN - New Zealand dialogue relations, as well as bilateral meetings with leaders from other participating countries and organizations.

Prior to the ASEAN Summit, the Foreign Minister will attend the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on 25 October 2025 to discuss the direction for advancing the ASEAN Community, managing relations with external partners, and the implementation of the Five-Point Consensus to address the situation in Myanmar.
