On 20 August 2026, the International Security Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted an academic discussion on Promoting Social Cohesion in a Multicultural Society: Best Practices from Singapore Model. The Ministry invited Dr. Leong Chan-Hoong, Senior Fellow and Head of the Social Cohesion Research Programme at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, as the guest speaker. The discussion was attended by Mr. Jannarong Takumi Saga, Advisor to Deputy Prime Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow; Ms. Marinee Suwanmoli, Assistant Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as representatives from relevant agencies and the academia, who participated in the discussion and exchanged views.

The discussion aimed to exchange knowledge and experiences on Singapore’s best practices in promoting harmonious coexistence in a multicultural society, as well as to explore how these lessons could be adapted to the Thailand’s multicultural context.
