On 22 January 2026, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, welcomed and had a discussion with H.E. Michael J. Rigas, Deputy Secretary for Management and Resources from the U.S. Department of State, on the occasion of the latter’s visit to Thailand between 22 - 24 January 2026.
Both sides reaffirmed the importance of the long-standing Thailand - U.S. alliance, which has yielded mutual benefits for both nations and serves as the foundation for their interaction and cooperation to this day. They discussed on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in management matters, supporting facilitation for the operations of their respective Embassies and Consulates-General in advancing national interests, protecting citizens, providing efficient public services, as well as promoting cooperation across the security, economic and social aspects.
Both sides also reaffirmed readiness to work together on enhancing efficiency in management-related issues in facilitation for diplomatic and consular missions of both countries. They agreed to continue more detailed discussions at the working-group level among relevant officials.
