Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs meets with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Thailand

On 18 February 2026, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with H.E. Mr. Evgeny Tomikhin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Thailand, at the request of the Russian side.

Both sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Thailand and Russia at both bilateral and ASEAN levels. This included preparations for the ASEAN - Russia Summit to be convened to commemorate the 35th anniversary of ASEAN - Russia relations in 2026 in Russia. They also exchanged views on developments at the United Nations and on global geopolitical developments. The Thai side reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to multilateralism, international law, and the United Nations Charter as the cornerstone of Thailand’s foreign policy.
