On 7 April 2026, Ms. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, joined a telephone conversation between H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, and H.E. Mr. Lee Jae Myung, President of the Republic of Korea (ROK), on the occasion of the President congratulating the Prime Minister on his assumption of duty.

The two leaders recalled their positive impressions from their most recent meeting during the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in October 2025 in Gyeongju, ROK, and agreed to further expand comprehensive bilateral cooperation. In the area of trade, they agreed to expedite the conclusion of negotiations on the Thailand - ROK Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to mitigate the impacts of global economic uncertainty. In the area of security, they agreed to deepen cooperation in the defence industry and in dismantling online scam centers. Both sides also agreed to further promote cooperation in tourism and culture, particularly in film production.

The Prime Minister reiterated his support for the ROK’s endeavors to bring peace to the Korean Peninsula. In addition, both leaders also expressed concern regarding the situation in the Middle East, including energy security and expressed readiness to continue working together to address these challenges.
