On 4 February 2026, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, welcomed H.E. Mr. Sisavath Inphachanh, Ambassador of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) to Thailand, on a courtesy call upon his assumption of duty.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the close and longstanding relations between Thailand and the Lao PDR, as well as discussed ways to further promote cooperation in various dimensions, particularly in the exchanges of high-level visits and the promotion of trade and transport connectivity. They also welcomed the successes of various activities which were held to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the Lao PDR in 2025, notably the opening ceremony of the Fifth Thai - Lao Friendship Bridge (Bueng Kan – Bolikhamxay) on 25 December 2025.
