On 21 October 2026, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Mr. Yonetani Koji, Ambassador of Japan to ASEAN, on the occasion of his visit to Thailand.

Both sides discussed ways to further strengthen ASEAN-Japan relations and practical cooperation under the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP) in response to regional challenges. They also discussed preparations for the 29th ASEAN-Japan Summit and Related Summits to be held in November 2026 in Manila, the Philippines and exchanged views on key regional developments.
