Thailand co-chairs the 30th ASEAN-ROK Dialogue promoting cooperation on trade, investment and digital economy

On 7 July 2026, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, in her capacity as Country Coordinator for ASEAN - ROK Dialogue Relations (2024 - 2027), and H.E. Ms. Cecilia Chung, Deputy Minister for Political Affairs and Senior Official of the Republic of Korea (ROK), co-chaired the 30th ASEAN - ROK Dialogue in Seoul to prepare for the upcoming ASEAN Post Ministerial Conference (PMC) with the ROK later this month in Manila, the Philippines.
Thailand joined to advance the ASEAN - ROK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership by leading discussions on trade, investment and digital economy, highlighting 3 priorities, namely (1) Deepening economic integration and strengthening trade resilience through the swift conclusion of the ASEAN - Korea Free Trade Agreement (AKFTA) Upgrade; (2) Expanding collaboration to promote sustainable investment in advanced industries and supply-chain diversification, and cross-border payment connectivity; and (3) Elevating digital economy partnership and fostering a trusted digital ecosystem by leveraging the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA) and strengthening cooperation against cyber-enabled crimes.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Permanent Secretary had discussions with the Deputy Minister for Political Affairs and Senior Official of the ROK to strengthen Thailand - ROK relations paving the way to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations in 2028. Both sides discussed high-level exchanges, trade cooperation, and exchanged views on key regional developments of mutual interest.
