Royal Thai Embassy in Nairobi explores possibility of using Lamu Port as another trading gateway to East Africa

Ms.Sasirit Tangulrat, Thai Ambassador to Kenya and her team ; Mr. Natthapong Senanarong, Commercial Attaché and Mr.Jutha Saovabha, Second Secretary, visited Lamu port on 1 September 2021 and had a constructive discussion with Mr. Abdullahi M. Samatar, General Manager of the port on ways and means to expand Thailand-Kenya trade and investment through Lamu port.
The Embassy believes that Lamu port can serve as another trading gateway for Thailand to Kenya and East Africa and will disseminate information on LAPSSET projects as well as trade and investment opportunities in Lamu to Thai private sector.
Currently Thailand exports its products to East Africa through Mombasa and Dar es Salaam.
