Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, delivered a keynote address at the Thailand - Japan Joint Trade and Economic Committee Meeting, co-organised by the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking and Keidanren (Japan Business Federation).

The Secretary to the Foreign Minister emphasised Japan’s significant role as Thailand’s strategic partner in economic and industrial development. He also highlighted the opportunity to expand new economic cooperation to address global and regional geopolitical shifts and technological disruptions. Thailand and Japan will work together to strengthen the economic competitiveness of both countries by preserving traditional industries while fostering new growth sectors with a focus on sustainability. The government will revise its investment policy so that it becomes a tool capable of genuinely strengthening the country’s competitiveness. The Economic Cabinet has approved three measures to accelerate and promote investment: the Thailand Fast Pass, measures to develop high-skilled personnel for modern industries, and measures supporting Thai entrepreneurs in enhancing their competitiveness.

The Secretary to the Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for Japan’s support in Thailand’s accession to OECD membership from the outset. The Royal Thai government is ready to elevate Thailand’s standards in line with OECD principles, reflecting Thailand’s commitment to promoting shared values of an open and transparent economic market for a future of shared prosperity.
