On 9 December 2025, H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired a meeting to discuss the next steps in Thailand's Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) accession. In attendance were Ms. Gita Kothari, OECD Accession Coordinator, as well as representatives from the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council, and the Office of the Council of State, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting followed the handover of Thailand’s Initial Memorandum on 8 December 2025 by H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, to Mr. Frantisek Ruzicka, Deputy Secretary-General of the OECD, during the latter’s official visit to Thailand. The Memorandum is an assessment of Thai agencies’ readiness to align to OECD standards. Its handover also marked a significant milestone in Thailand's OECD accession process and moved Thailand to the next stage, namely the Technical Review, during which Thai government agencies will closely consult with the OECD to amend relevant laws, policies, and practices in accordance with OECD instruments.
