On 6 January 2026, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, met with General Son Sug Rag, Chief of Staff of the ROK Air Force, in Gyeryong, to follow up on the progress regarding compensation for the Thai woman who was injured as a result of an accidental bombing by the ROK fighter aircraft during a military training exercise on 6 March 2025.

The Chief of Staff of the ROK Air Force once again expressed his condolences over the incident and reaffirmed his readiness to cooperate closely with the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul, as well as with the injured Thai national, in order to jointly reach an appropriate and fair conclusion on the issue of compensation.

Both sides also exchanged views on ways to promote and further strengthen military and air force cooperation between Thailand and the ROK. They also discussed the latest situation between Thailand and Cambodia including the ceasefire, the handover of Cambodia soldiers, and the firing of a motar round causing an injury to a Thai solider.

The Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul will continue to closely follow developments on the injured Thai woman and will make every effort to protect and safeguard the rights, interests, and welfare of Thai nationals in the ROK to the fullest extent possible.
