On 20 December 2024, H.E. Mr. Chutintorn Gongsakdi, Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed H.E. Mr. Sameeh Essa Johar Hayat, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, during his visit to Thailand to attend the 1st Thailand-Kuwait Political Consultations in Bangkok.

Both sides discussed potential areas of cooperation, including renewable energy and food security. They also exchanged views on ways to enhance bilateral ties within ASEAN and Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) frameworks, with the Kuwaiti side reaffirming its support for Thailand’s upcoming ACD Chairmanship in 2025. In addition, Mr. Sameeh delivered a letter from H.E. Mr. Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Yahya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, extending an invitation for an official visit to Kuwait.
