On 22 May 2025, Mr Narut Soontarodoom, Consul General of Thailand in Siem Reap, paid a courtesy call on Mr Sot Soputra, Governor of Stung Treng Province. Also present at the meeting were provincial executives and the Deputy Consul General.

The two sides discussed opportunities to strengthen economic cooperation in key sectors such as tourism, agriculture, and agribusiness, particularly the development of tapioca processing plants. These initiatives align with the Thai-proposed “Two Kingdoms, One Destination” tourism policy framework, as well as the Cambodian government’s Special Programme to Promote Investment in the Four Northeastern Provinces (SPIN) for 2025–2028, which covers Stung Treng, Kratie, Ratanakiri, and Mondulkiri.
