On 24 February 2026, H.E. Ms. Arunrung Phothong Humphreys, Ambassador of Thailand to Stockholm, chaired the first Team Thailand Meeting of 2026 at the Royal Thai Embassy. The meeting was convened in a hybrid format, with heads of Team Thailand offices and Embassy official in attendance.
The meeting reviewed political, security, and economic developments in Sweden and Latvia throughout 2025, discussed trends anticipated for 2026 and the advancement of Thailand’s bilateral relations with both Sweden and Latvia. Heads of the respective Team Thailand offices presented reports on their achievements over the past year, as well as their plans and key initiatives for the year ahead. These covered a broad spectrum of areas, including economic affairs, trade and investment, political and security cooperation, culture, tourism, consular services, and people-to-people exchanges. The Ambassador underscored the importance of an integrated and coordinated approach among all offices and reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to providing full support and facilitation to Team Thailand.
In the afternoon of the same day, the Ambassador led Team Thailand on a study visit to Stockholm Royal Seaport to attend a briefing and site tour on urban planning. The delegation was briefed by Mr. Örjan Lönngren, Energy and Climate Policy Analyst at the City of Stockholm, who also guided the visit.
The Royal Seaport project, initiated by the City of Stockholm in 2009, involves the transformation of a former underutilized industrial area into a modern residential and office district comprising approximately 2,400 housing units. The urban design is guided by five core principles: (1) creating a vibrant city for all; (2) ensuring convenient mobility and accessibility, enabling residents to easily reach shops, schools, hospitals, and essential daily services; (3) promoting efficient resource use; (4) adhering as closely as possible to nature-based principles; and (5) fostering active participation and continuous learning among residents. The successful implementation of these principles rests upon strong political commitment, the exchange of knowledge and experience, and effective communication between public authorities and the community.
