On 18 September 2026 in Stockholm, The Wood Solution network — led by the Eco-Innovation Foundation (EIF), the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), and the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm/Thailand and Nordic Countries Innovation Unit (TNIU) — jointly organized a seminar on "Advancing the Thai–Swedish Partnership for Sustainable Wood Building in Thailand," bringing together over 40 representatives from Thai and Swedish organizations.

The seminar aimed to raise awareness of how innovative wood construction can advance climate action, biodiversity, and green industrial development, while also discussing pathways for scaling up initiatives, mobilizing funding, and deepening collaboration between Thailand and Sweden.

Ambassador Arunrung Photong Humphreys, Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm, spoke about Thailand's vision and readiness in sustainable forestry and wood construction, as well as the Embassy's role in Innovation Diplomacy in supporting and driving cooperation in sustainable forestry — an effort that has continued since 2023 with the involvement of numerous stakeholders across Thailand and Sweden. She also highlighted pioneering initiatives such as the Phrae Sustainable Wood City model.

Since 2025, sustainable forestry management has been formally included as a cooperation area under the Thailand–Sweden Strategic Partnership. This collaboration is further linked to progress on the Thailand–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and Thailand's preparations to join the OECD, both of which will help open new avenues for cooperation, trade, and investment between Thailand and Europe going forward — alongside Thailand's potential to serve as a pilot site whose model could be scaled to other tropical regions, including ASEAN and Africa.

The event also featured the presentation of a sector development roadmap by SEI, along with perspectives from leading Swedish and Thai wood industry players such as Limträteknik, Stora Enso, and SCG, together with the network of experts EIF has developed to help drive the initiative forward in Thailand.
