Deputy Permanent Secretary leads delegation on a study visit on the advancement of Thailand’s defense industry

On 9 September 2025, Mr. Paisan Rupanichkij, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, led a delegation of senior executives from the Ministry to participate in a study visit on the advancement of Thailand’s defense industry, organized by the Department of International Economic Affairs, at the Defence Technology Institute (DTI). The visit aimed to enhance understanding of the role and significance of the defense industry in contributing to Thailand’s economic and technological development, as well as to promote cooperation among the public sector, the private sector, and the Defence Technology Institute.

The delegation attended a briefing on “Advancing Thailand’s Defense Industry: Vision and Opportunities for the Country” at the Defence Technology Institute, where General Naphon Sangsomwong, Advisor to the Institute, delivered a welcoming remarks. Experts in the defense industry also provided a summary presentation and engaged in discussions on approaches to driving the development of the industry. The delegation also visited an exhibition showcasing weapons and defense systems developed in Thailand.

In addition, Ms. Rujikorn Saengchantr, Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs, led the delegation on a study visit to Chaiseri Metal & Rubber Co., Ltd. and attended a briefing on “Enhancing the Capacity of Thailand’s Defense Industry: The Role of the Private Sector and State Support” delivered by Mr. Karn Kulhirun, Managing Director, as well as exchanged views with Dr. Nopparat Kulhirun, Founder and Deputy Chairman and Managing Director, and Mr. Krit Kulhirun, Chief Executive Officer. Afterwards, the delegation toured the production facilities for weapons and defense systems, particularly armored vehicles, which are the company’s flagship products. The Ministry will further compile useful information and recommendations from the visit to seek cooperation with potential countries.
