Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs meets with U.S. Members of Congress on Sidelines of the SelectUSA Investment Summit 2025

On 13 May 2025, H.E. Mr. Chutintorn Gongsakdi, Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the meeting between the Thai delegation, led by Dr. Nalinee Taveesin, President of Thailand Trade Representatives, together with H.E. Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of Thailand to the United States, and notable representatives of the Thai private sector, and Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), at the Russell Senate Office Building, during the visit to the U.S. to participate in the SelectUSA Investment Summit 2025.

Senator Duckworth reiterated the importance of Thailand as a key strategic partner and the contribution of Thai investment to U.S. economic growth, and expressed readiness to support the expansion of Thai investment in the U.S. Both sides discussed potential cooperation in manufacturing, such as solar panels, automotive parts, which help increase value and create jobs in both countries, sustainable and certified processed seafood and pet food businesses, recycling, energy transition through carbon capture and storage (CCS). Both sides also discussed Thailand’s interest in increasing the purchase of agricultural products from the U.S. and exploring opportunities to expand investment in the energy sector.

In addition, on 14 May 2025, the Thai delegation had a fruitful conversation with Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC), Co-Chair of the U.S. – Thai Alliance Caucus and Congressman Ed Case (D-HI), member of the Caucus, during the dinner hosted by the Thai Ambassador to the U.S.
