On 24 July 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in Commemorative Activities of the 50th Anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), which included the Signing Ceremony of the Instrument of Accession to the TAC and High-Level Conference of the High Contracting Parties to the TAC in Manila, the Philippines.

The Deputy Prime Minister participated in moderating a breakout session during the Conference under the topic “Advancing Cooperation in Addressing Emerging Threats and Challenges” alongside H.E. Mr. Francisco Pérez Mackenna, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile, and presented a summary of the breakout discussion during the Plenary Session, underscoring the TAC’s importance as a cornerstone of peaceful inter-State relations and rules-based regional order. He further highlighted the TAC’s enduring relevance, particularly at a time when the international community is facing increasingly complex, interconnected, and transboundary threats that no country can address alone, such as transnational crime, climate change, and the erosion of multilateralism. In addition, he also encouraged High Contracting Parties to utilize the TAC as a platform for advancing practical cooperation.

At present, 62 countries have acceded to the TAC as High Contracting Parties. Sweden, Poland, Romania, and Lithuania attended the Signing Ceremony and formally acceded as High Contracting Parties to the TAC on this occasion.
