The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, through the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) in collaboration with the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, is preparing to host the Thailand Development Forum for Africa under the theme "Application of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for Sustainable Development" from 11–16 May 2025.

Senior officials at the level of Permanent Secretaries or heads of development cooperation agencies—or their representatives—from 15 African countries will attend the Forum. The countries include: Burundi, Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Somalia and Uganda.

On this occasion, the delegation is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, on 16 May 2025, who will also host a luncheon in their honour.

Additionally, the African delegates will engage in field visits to observe Thailand’s development practices in various areas, including: Universal Health Coverage and Health Promotion, Community-Based Tourism, Agricultural Innovation and Technology, Halal Food Innovation, Waste Management, Biomass Energy and Urban Low-Income Housing Development

They will also receive briefing on promoting investment cooperation with African countries from both public and private sector perspectives, with speakers from the Department of International Trade Promotion and the Federation of Thai Industries.

The program will conclude with a workshop to exchange views on potential areas for future development cooperation between Thailand and individual African countries.

This Forum reflects Thailand's development cooperation strategy and continues the Thai–Africa Initiative (TAI) in the development dimension. It aims to reinforce Thailand’s role as a proactive development partner to Africa by implementing projects that respond to African countries’ needs. These efforts will be guided by: The Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) and the Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG) Model.

Ultimately, the Forum supports Africa’s achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2063 of the African Union.
