On 28 May 2026, Mr. Karn Karuhadej, Special Representative of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, delivered the opening remarks at the seminar and workshop “Thailand - Luxembourg Seminar and Workshop on Transition Finance and Decarbonisation Pathways.” The event was jointly organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels, the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC), the Thai Bond Market Association (ThaiBMA), and the Luxembourg Stock Exchange (LuxSE), and took place from 28 - 29 May 2026 at the Stock Exchange of Thailand headquarters. In attendance were over 80 participants from government agencies, the private sector, financial institutions, and Thai businesses.

The Special Representative underscored the importance of sustainable finance and transition finance in driving a low-carbon economy amid global climate, energy, and economic challenges. He highlighted the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in advancing economic diplomacy by connecting Thailand with international financial centers and partners to promote ESG and green finance, particularly cooperation with Luxembourg, a global leader in sustainable finance and green bonds. He also emphasized Thailand’s efforts in promoting the Thailand Taxonomy, green bonds, and sustainability-linked bonds to support the transition of Thai businesses and industries towards Net Zero emissions.

Experts from LuxSE delivered lectures and conducted workshops on transition finance, transition bonds, the development of transition plans, and the role of capital markets in supporting greenhouse gas emissions reduction. The Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels also co-organized the seminar entitled “Enable ESG Bond Issuance 2026: Scaling Transition Finance: From Corporate Strategy to Capital Market Execution” in Bangkok on 27 May 2026.
