On 12 January 2026, Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, and Ms. Véronique Dockendorf, Director-General for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg, co-chaired the 1st Thailand - Luxembourg Bilateral Consultations. The meeting was convened following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a bilateral consultation mechanism between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg in November 2025.
Both sides exchanged views on advancing bilateral cooperation, including in the areas of trade, investment, finance, tourism, and the promotion of each country as a logistics hub, as well as academic cooperation and capacity building. They also shared perspectives on regional and international developments, including the Thailand - Cambodia border situation, the elections in Myanmar and the situation in Venezuela.
