On 8 August 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy organised the “Volunteering to Decorate LED Lanterns Activity” at Shinagawa City Environmental Learning Exchange Facility Ecole Toshi to honour Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother on the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty’s Birthday Anniversary on 12 August 2025. H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, along with officials and staff of the Royal Thai Embassy, members of Team Thailand, and their families participated in the activity with the local residents of Shinagawa City, with approximately 50 persons attending.
Volunteers and local residents decorated glass jars using traditional Thai fabrics to create LED lanterns. The decorated glass jars will be displayed during the Koto Harp Music Concert to be held at Togoshi Park on 16 August 2025, which will be open to the public.
This activity not only promoted environmental conservation but also helped strengthen the relationship between the Royal Thai Embassy, the local community and Shinagawa City, and was also broadcasted on a local channel by the City.
