On 16 June 2023, His Highness Sheikh Abdulla bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates led the delegation to pay an official visit to Thailand as Guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

On this occasion, His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates had a meeting with His Excellency Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand with the participation of high-lelvel representaties from the Ministry of Commerce and the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). Both sides discussed ways to elevate Thai-UAE relations to a strategic partnership, enhance cooperation in areas of trade, renewable energy, particulary the UAE’s investment in the EEC, techonology, science, and heath. The two countires emphasised the negotiation process of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). The UAE expressed its interest to become a party to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and investment in Dawei Deep Sea Port. Measuring U.S. - China decoupling was also discussed.

After the bilateral meeting, His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand hosted a luncheon in honour of His Highness the Minister Foreign of the United Arab Emirates and the delegation at Paii - The House of Sathorn Restaurant.

His Highness the Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates paid a visit to Thailand as part of his regional trip to Asia. It also reflects the cordial ties between Thailand and the United Arab Emirates and stresses the importance of strategic partnerships between the two countries. Currently, the United Arab Emirates is the biggest trading partner of Thailand in the Middle East with the two-way trade volume worth over 20,000 million USD, and ranked 6th among Thailand’s global trade partner. The United Arab Emirates is also an important source of energy security for Thailand.
