On 23 September 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Mrs. Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), on the sidelines of the High-level Week of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Both sides exchanged views on the situation in Myanmar. The Deputy Prime Minister informed the ICRC President of Thailand’s efforts in delivering humanitarian assistance in Myanmar, while the ICRC President emphasized the critical need for assistance in public health, clean water and essential infrastructure in the country.

The two sides welcomed the close cooperation between Thailand and the ICRC, including the organizing of workshops on international humanitarian law by the ICRC for the Royal Thai Armed Forces. The ICRC President invited the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand to attend the High-level Conference on Humanity in War, co-organized by the ICRC and the Government of Jordan on 7 December 2026 in Amman.
