On 24 September 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, joined the Prime Minister in his meeting with H.E. Mr. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, during the High-level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Prime Minister and the Secretary General of the United Nations welcomed the close relations between Thailand and the United Nations and on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Thailand’s membership in the United Nations. The Secretary-General expressed appreciation for Thailand’s constructive role and longstanding support for the work of the United Nations, especially as the host country of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and various UN entities in Thailand. The Prime Minister expressed views regarding the transparent and fair selection process for the next United Nations Secretary-General.  

Both sides also discussed the situation between Thailand and Cambodia and the situation in Myanmar. The Prime Minister affirmed Thailand’s commitment to promoting peace and stability through peaceful conflict resolution within the framework of international law.
