On 1 July 2025, Ms. Cataleya Phatoomros, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Organizations welcomed Mr. Sukhrob Khoshmukhamedov during his visit to Thailand on the occasion of his assumption of duty as Chief of External Relations and Communications Section, United Nations Volunteers (UNV).

DDG Cataleya emphasized that Thailand has placed importance on the role of volunteers in promoting sustainable development. Both sides discussed opportunities to enhance partnerships between Thailand and the UNV, particularly in promoting greater participation of Thai nationals within the UN system through the UNV programme. They also discussed collaboration on initiatives leading up to the 2026 International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development.

The United Nations Volunteers was established in 1970 with an aim to promote volunteerism for peace and development through the deployment of volunteers worldwide. The UNV is based in Bonn, Germany, and has six regional offices, including one in Bangkok which serves as the UNV Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific.
