On 25 August 2025, H.E. Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, welcomed and had a discussion with Professor Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, Grand Mufti of Egypt, on the occasion of the latter’s visit to Thailand as a guest of the Ministry.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the cordial relations between Thailand and Egypt, which have flourished for over 70 years. They also discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in education, religious studies and culture, as well as to enhance collaboration on humanitarian assistance to Palestinians.

The Grand Mufti reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to establishing a regional Arabic language center in Thailand, recognizing the country as a model of living in harmony in a multicultural society. The Vice Minister expressed appreciation to Egypt for its ongoing scholarship programme for Thai students and welcomed the proposal to establish an Arabic language center in Thailand, which would benefit not only Thai students but also the general public.
