On 16 June 2026, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, representing the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had discussions with H.E. Mr. Nassereddin Heidari, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Thailand.

The Vice Foreign Minister reiterated the request for the Iranian side to facilitate the return of the remains of the deceased crew members from the Mayuree Naree vessel to Thailand at the earliest opportunity once all procedures, especially those involving the private sector, have been completed.

Both sides also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East. The Vice Foreign Minister welcomed the agreement reached between the U.S. and Iran to end the conflict and requested for the facilitation of the passage of Thai-related commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz once the situation returns to normal in accordance with the agreement.
