On 2 February 2026, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with Dr. Darren Beattie, Senior Bureau Official, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State, during his visit to Washington, D.C.

In his capacity as Chairman of the Thailand - U.S. Educational Foundation (TUSEF), or Fulbright Thailand, the Vice Minister reiterated the importance of the Fulbright Programme in deepening mutual understanding between the two countries through educational exchanges, strengthening people-to-people relations, and providing a strong foundation for Thailand - U.S. bilateral relations. The Senior Bureau Official concurred and reaffirmed the continued support of the U.S. Government for the Fulbright Programme. Both sides also discussed further cooperation, particularly on the occasion of 75th anniversary of Fulbright Thailand, with a view to fostering even closer people-to-people relations between the two countries.

The Thailand - U.S. Educational Foundation (TUSEF) was established in 1950 through an agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the U.S. Department of State to promote mutual understanding between the two countries through educational and cultural exchanges. To date, the Foundation has granted scholarships to more than 3,500 Thais and Americans.
