On 7 May 2026, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, presided over the Awards Ceremony for the Photo Contest under the theme “50th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and Iceland: Friendship Beyond Horizon.“
 
The Photo Contest and the Awards Ceremony were co-organised by the Ministry, the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand, and the Embassy of Iceland in Japan to commemorate and reflect the longstanding friendship between Thailand and Iceland on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025 through tourism and photography. The submission period was between December 2025 and February 2026. The panel of judges selected 13 winning photographs from more than 400 submissions. The Grand Prize winner was Mr. Nanut Bovorn for the photograph titled “Ice Cave Snowstorm.” The event was also sponsored by the Honorary Consulate of Iceland in Bangkok, the Honorary Consulate of Iceland in Phuket, Icelandair, Finnair, and H2O-Hydro Co., Ltd.
 
In addition, Mr. Nanut Bovorn, the winner of the Photo Contest and freelance travel photographer, gave a talk on Thailand - Iceland tourism and photography techniques. The awarded photographs can be viewed at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=RPSThailand&set=a.1396315379190713
