Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs meets with the Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO)

On 7 October 2026, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, met with Professor Celeste Saulo, Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), to exchange views on ways to enhance cooperation between Thailand and the WMO, particularly in supporting the United Nations' Early Warnings for All (EW4All) initiative and measures to respond to climate-related natural disasters, heat crisis, and the El Niño phenomenon.
The Thai side reaffirmed its readiness to cooperate with the WMO and highlighted Thailand's role in supporting cooperation on climate change and environmental issues. Examples included Thailand’s hosting of the "CLEAR Sky Strategy: A Green Tech Conference Towards a Haze-Free ASEAN” on 30 September 2026 in Bangkok, and joining the side event on "Delivering the Sendai Framework: an ASEAN Approach to Inclusive Disaster and Climate Resilience" during the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly on 24 September 2026 in New York.
