On 2 May 2024, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, had a bilateral meeting with Ms. Nusrat Chani, Minister of State (Minister for Europe), in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, at the OECD headquarters in Paris, during the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting 2024.

The Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs welcomed the elevation of the Thai-U.K. bilateral relations to Strategic Partnership, which was announced during the official visit to Thailand in March 2024 of the Right Honourable Lord Cameron of Chipping Norton, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Both sides also discussed trade and investment cooperation, as well as issues of shared interest to be discussed in the 2nd U.K.-Thailand Joint Economic Trade Committee (JETCO) meeting, which will be held at the end of May, such as technology and innovation cooperation, renewable energy and two-way investment promotion.

On this occasion, the U.K. expressed support for Thailand’s application of OECD membership, which will be beneficial to the strengthening of both countries’ economic ties.
