Thailand and United States reiterated cooperation in promoting Thai-US trade and investment and Thailand’s economic recovery during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as enhancing digital economy, infrastructure development and US investment in EEC in the courtesy call on Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs by US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC).

On 24 November 2020, U.S. – ASEAN Business Council (USABC) delegation paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand.

USABC delegation applauded Thailand’s successful response to the COVID-19 pandemic within the country and reiterated its support to Thailand on the post-COVID-19 economic recovery. The Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs highlighted development in Thailand’s COVID-19 public health and economic measures, as well as Thailand’s economic policy direction, particularly toward digital economy and infrastructure development in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).

Both sides discussed potential cooperation during and in the post-COVID-19 pandemic in aspects of research and development of the COVID-19 vaccine and economic recovery. They exchanged views on ways to support Thailand’s long-term economic development, fostering an ecosystem for innovation and promoting environment conducive to investment. On this occasion, the Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs also invited USABC companies to expand their investments in Thailand, especially in the EEC area.
