On 20 May 2021, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, had a meeting, via video conference, with H.E. Mr. Niels Annen, Minister of State of the German Federal Foreign Office. Besides a number of bilateral issues, both sides discussed current developments in Myanmar, especially ASEAN’s 5-Point Consensus and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Don Pramudwinai’s Proposal of the D4D Concept: (1) De-escalating the violence; (2) Delivering humanitarian assistance; (3) Discharging all detainees; and (4) Dialogue which leads to durable Development in Myanmar.

Both sides hoped to strengthen their bilateral cooperation through a series of exchange of visits when the Covid-19 situation has improved. Minister Annen also provided his view on the upcoming Federal Election in September 2021.
