On 11 December 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Vienna and the Diplomatic Society Magazine launched the Diplomatic SOCIETY Magazine special issue focusing on Thailand. H.E. Ms. Pattarat Hongtong, Ambassador of Thailand to Austria, opened the event at the Thai Residence and welcomed Prof. Mag. Gertrud Tauchhammer, Publisher of Diplomatic SOCIETY, Mag. Christoph Meyenburg, Deputy Director of the Protocol Department as the representative of the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, and around 60 distinguished diplomats, the Austrian and foreign guests.
The Ambassador indicated that the purpose of this special edition is to provide a deeper insight into Thailand for the Austrian public. The magazine highlights the 156-year friendship between the two nations, Thailand's economic potential as a gateway for Austria to Southeast Asia, and rich cultural features including Thai cuisine, fashion and Muaythai. It also includes a special tribute to Her Majesty the Late Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.
Following the launch, the Embassy hosted a "Make and Taste" workshop featuring two exquisite Thai appetizers: "Chor Muang" (Flower-shaped purple dumplings) and "Toong Tong" (Golden Money Pouch). Some of attendees cooked the food by themselves. All guests were also treated to a variety of Thai food featured in the magazine, allowing them to experience the delicate unique craftsmanship and flavors of Thai cuisine firsthand.
This collaboration reflects the strong and enduring partnership between Thailand and Austria, promoting cultural exchange and strengthening people-to-people connections.
