The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reduced the number of supporting documents for tourist visa application and shortened the visa processing time to promote Thai tourism, especially among Chinese tourists, as follows:
(1) The current required documents only include a passport copy, a recent photograph, a flight booking confirmation, a proof of accommodation, a document indicating current residency, and a financial proof.
(2) The visa approval time is shortened from 14 working days to 7 working days.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand are also currently in the process of establishing a system to link the data to verify supporting documents for visa application, which would accelerate the verification process and the visa processing time.
