เมื่อวันที่ 3 กรกฎาคม 2569 นายมงคล วิศิษฏ์สตัมภ์ เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน ให้การต้อนรับนักเรียนระดับมัธยมศึกษาพร้อมเจ้าหน้าที่ผู้ดูแล รวม 4 คน จากโครงการ New Zealand Model United Nations (NZMUN) ซึ่งเป็นโครงการจำลองการประชุมสหประชาชาติสำหรับเยาวชน เน้นส่งเสริมการสนทนา โต้วาที และเรียนรู้ข้อมูลทางการทูตจากวิทยากรรับเชิญ ตลอดจนการแสดงบทบาทสมมติเป็นผู้แทนประเทศที่ได้รับมอบหมาย จัดขึ้นระหว่างวันที่ 2- 4 กรกฎาคม 2569 ที่มหาวิทยาลัย Victoria University of Wellington

ในการนี้ เอกอัครราชทูตได้กล่าวถึงประสบการณ์การเป็นนักการทูต ความสำคัญของการทูตพหุภาคี ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างไทย รวมถึงอาเซียน กับองค์การสหประชาชาติ และบทบาทเด่นของไทยในเวทีสหประชาชาติในด้านต่าง ๆ เช่น ในด้านสิทธิสตรี โดยสมเด็จพระเจ้าลูกเธอ เจ้าฟ้าพัชรกิติยาภา นเรนทิราเทพยวดี กรมหลวงราชสาริณีสิริพัชร มหาวัชรราชธิดา ทรงมีบทบาทสำคัญในการผลักดันการพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตของผู้ต้องขังสตรีในเรือนจำ (Bangkok Rules) โดยข้อมูลที่คณะนักเรียนได้รับทราบนี้ จะเป็นประโยชน์ต่อการการแสดงบทบาทสมมติในฐานะผู้แทนไทย เพื่อการเรียนรู้ประสบการณ์จำลองในการทำงานกับองค์การสหประชาชาติตามวัตถุประสงค์ของโครงการต่อไป

On 3 July 2026, H.E. Mr. Mongkol Visitstump, Ambassador of Thailand, welcomed 4 students from New Zealand Model United Nations (NZMUN) to the Royal Thai Embassy in Wellington. NZMUN serves as a platform for New Zealand youth to step into the shoes of representatives from UN member states to engage in intellectual conversations, diplomatic debates, gain insights from guest speakers, and acquire a practical role-playing experience as a delegate of an assigned nation.

The purpose of the visit to the embassy was for the students to study the importance of multilateral diplomacy, and the intimate relationship between Thailand, ASEAN, and the United Nations, to attain a deeper understanding into the crucial role of Thailand in the United Nations, such as Thailand’s position as a supporter for women’s rights including, but not limited to, the case of Princess Bajrakitiyabha’s advocacy for the rights and well-being of incarcerated women (Bangkok Rules), in preparation for the students’ participation in the Model United Nations conference, held from 2-4 July, 2026, at Victoria University of Wellington.
